Update on Strike at Aqaba Port, Jordan

There has been no change in the Aqaba situation and the terminal is standstill. The terminal management informed us that no official notice was provided by the Labours for the strike.  A case has been submitted to the labour court.  The strike is expected to continue another 36-48 hours.

Service Update

  • AHZ (Aqaba) Feeder – Nysted Maersk – Berthed 13/0747 – Currently alongside with 520 imports onboard. The vessel will have to wait to discharge the cargo before we can sail the vessel.
  • ME1 – Maersk Karachi – By passed AHZ and enroute to JED (Jeddah). All cargo is planned for discharging in Jeddah and will then connect on the Feeder from JED to AHZ.
  • MECL2 – Maersk Kentucky – ETA AHZ 18/1300. Current plan is to discharge all AHZ cargo in JED and then will plan the vessel to go and anchor close to Ras Mohammed at the entrance of gulf of Aqaba. If the strike is over and we have the cargo for loading, then we will call AHZ and load the exports.  If the strike continues, we will bypass and go through the Suez Canal on proforma.

We will keep you updated as the situation develops.
