Democratic Republic of the Congo: Port Congestion

There is port congestion in the Port of Matadi, Democratic Republic of Congo.  Currently, there is an average 16 days delay for feeder vessels berthing at the Port of Matadi.  The cause of the delay is the river draft.  The river is currently at 6.1m, the maximum is 7m, the river is low due to seasonal fluctuations.  The situation will improve in the next weeks because the river is being dredged and we are operating an additional 6 feeders to reduce the backlog.  The hope is the backlog will be cleared by mid-May if there are no further operational challenges.
