Djibouti Port Omission: Maersk Drummond (Voyage 1401)

Due to bad weather in the Mediterranean ports together with the impacts of Christmas closures, we cannot get a berth at Port Said until January 1, which means the vessel will cross Suez two days late.  Unfortunately, this means we will have to bypass Djibouti.

Our contingency plan is to discharge all Djibouti cargo on board at Port Said and connect to next vessel, the Maersk Dhahran (Voyage 1401).  Djibouti cargo planned to be loaded from Port Said will be rolled one week onto the Maersk Dhahran (Voyage 1401). Read More...

Djibouti Port Congestion

  • Djibouti Terminal is heavily congested
  • Two new cranes will be operational from the end of October to mid-November which should help to ease the congestion

Maersk Idaho – Djibouti Port Omission

The Maersk Idaho (Voyage 1307) will omit its Djibouti port call as it cleared the Suez Canal from Algeciras two days later than proforma due to grounding of tug boat in Suez.  To recover schedule, the Maersk Idaho will omit Djibouti and sail directly to Jebel Ali. All US Government cargo will remain onboard and the vessel will make an inducement call to Djibouti on it’s return voyage. Maersk Iowa – Djibouti Contingency Plan

  • The Maersk Iowa will be arriving three (3) days late into WCA due to berth congestion in Port Said, Egypt
  • To recover schedule, vessel will omit Djibouti and sail directly to Jebel Ali
  • All Djibouti boxes will be discharged in Jebel Ali and will load on the nonflag Jervis Bay (voyage 1304) from Jebel Ali for Djibouti discharge
  • All exports to load on the next MECL2 Service sailing of the Maersk Denpasar (voyage 1303)
  • Waiver changing status from P1 to P2 has been approved by SDDC, so no issues with loading containers from Jebel Ali to Djibouti on earliest non-flag feeder
