A strike has just been announced unexpectedly in Naples, Italy for today 23rd, 24th, 27th and 28th of July. The strike is considered “illegal” but affecting operations which has stopped.

The team will revert with  any impacts to schedule.

UPDATE: Impending strike at Aqaba June 11, 2015 – No Strike

ACT (Aqaba Container Terminal) has confirmed that there is no strike at the terminal. They have advised that there is still congestion at the port since last week and customers are unable to register their containers and many containers are still gated-out.

Impending strike at Aqaba on June 11, 2015

Please be advised that there is a potential strike at Aqaba, Jordan this Thursday, June 11th. Please note that the strike is not confirmed.

Origin has confirmed that there is currently congestion at the port and operations have slowed down.

Belgian Ports Face Shutdown Mid-December

Shipping customers are being warned that they should be ready to expect delays, particularly at Antwerp and Zeebrugge as total port shutdowns are set for December 15th in a total 24 hour nationwide strike.

The December 15th shutdown follows similar occurrences on November 24th in Antwerp, and December 1st in Zeebrugge, when trade union strikes and protests froze operations at the ports.

As a result, there were full port closures and some sailing delays.  Currently, US government cargo is not routed through these ports so we do not expect any delays. Read More...

Aqaba Strike Continues For Second Day

Strike continues for 2nd day –

The striking employees are still not ready to accept the new 08 Hours shift system. Terminal stand still for 2nd day.

Vessel status

  • AHZ fdr/ Nysted Maersk  –Arrived 01/0700 , Still not berthed due to ongoing strike and stoppage of operations in the terminal.
  • ME1/Maersk Kiel – ETA 03/1300. If no change in status as on 03rd Dec/ Morning will take final call , with vessel OMITTING  Aqaba and sail directly to Jeddah.

Port Strike – Apapa, Nigeria

There is a Clearing Agents strike at  Apapa, Nigeria.  Clearing agents in Nigeria have requested their members to withdraw service in the last couple of days from Apapa terminal in what they term as “Inefficiencies of services”.

Talks have been ongoing between the terminal, clearing agents and the Nigerian port authority (NPA) to resolve the situation, however this has not yielded any positive outcome.  Further talks are expected to resolve the matter.  We will keep you updated. Read More...

UPDATE – Pacific West Coast Slowdown

As an update to the ongoing labor negotiations:

  • The two sides remain at the table and intend to continue bargaining the balance of today and throughout tomorrow (Saturday)
  • The ILWU did not issue a public statement in response to the PMA release yesterday
  • Labor was again released for second shift yesterday in Seattle/Tacoma
  • Labor was ordered in Seattle/Tacoma for first shift, they did not show – rather sending a letter to the PMA advising they would remain at the hall for a meeting from 8-10 AM Pacific.

Dockworkers on Strike at Chittagong Port Authority in Bangladesh

The dockworkers strike at Chittagong Port Authority has been called to start again on Wednesday and continue to Friday until 0600 hours.  Cargo inflow has been lower than usual and we expect that there will be a rush of cargo coming in on Friday which may lead to delays.  We will contiue to provide updates as the situation develops.
