Update: Aqaba Terminal Strike Over, Normal Operations Resumed

The Terminal is now back to normal and vessels are berthing on window.  The Terminal is operating with 4 cranes.

*       ME1/Maersk Klaipeda berthed on arrival 22/1400 ETD 23/1400

*       MECL2 – Maersk Danang – ETA AHZ – 25/1300. We expect to berth on arrival as of thsi point.

Some Improvement at Aqaba Terminal

The strike situation at Aqaba is improving slowly. The Terminal has achieved 300 yard moves  and 302 vessel moves on 19th October with limited staff and Army involvement.  The labor issue has reached the Court and they expect a decision soon on this issue.  This morning, more staff reported to work in the terminal and began work with 4 cranes on the vessels which are alongside the dock.

Update on Strike at Aqaba Port, Jordan

There has been no change in the Aqaba situation and the terminal is standstill. The terminal management informed us that no official notice was provided by the Labours for the strike.  A case has been submitted to the labour court.  The strike is expected to continue another 36-48 hours.

Service Update

  • AHZ (Aqaba) Feeder – Nysted Maersk – Berthed 13/0747 – Currently alongside with 520 imports onboard. The vessel will have to wait to discharge the cargo before we can sail the vessel.

Terminal Strike in Aqaba, Jordan

There is currently a labor strike at the terminal in Aqaba, Jordan, with all port operations currently suspended.  Due to this strike, the Maersk Karachi is omitting this port. Read More...

Bangladesh Nationwide Strike – Garment Factory Protests

Update 03 – December 17, 2013 / 1200 hrs (12:oopm):

  • Opposition alliance has again called for a 72 hour continuous road-rail-waterways blockade from December 17 to December 20
  • Volume of cargo movement from Dhaka to Chittagong has increased last week, however cargo movement will most likely be affected during this new blockade
  • Port operation is normal
  • If no political settlement between government and opposition political parties, we anticipate ongoing unrest to continue in some form at least until the end of the next general election scheduled on January 5, 2014

Port Situation at Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal

Update 10 – November 19, 2013 / 1505 hrs (03:05pm):

There are congestion issues at Nhava Sheva.  The main road leading to the port is congested with trailers waiting to be gated in.  The line is close to 15 kilometers (9.4 miles) long to get into the terminal.  This is impacting all terminals at Nhava Sheva.  Read More...

Rotterdam Port Disruption

Update 09 – October 28, 2013 / 1701 hrs (05:01pm):

Due to the work stoppages in Rotterdam, Maersk Line has declared Force Majeure.

Impacted NAM vessels are listed below:


  • Maersk Missouri (voyage 1319)
  • Maersk Carolina (voyage 1317)

The next TA2 vessel, Maersk Montana, will return to Rotterdam as per schedule. Read More...

Potential Strike: Oakland Terminals

Update 11 – October 22, 2013 / 1134 hrs (11:34am):

  • As of 0730 hrs (07:30am) PDT, all Oakland Terminals are open and operational
  • Approximately 80 picketers are present at limited locations on Middle Harbor Road
  • Law enforcement is managing the scene and the pickets are not impacting trucks getting into the marine terminals
  • However, some trucks are refusing to enter the terminal due to safety concerns, which will cause some delays
  • We will continue to monitor and provide an update if the situation changes

Pakistan Customs Strike

Customs agents have suspended their services the morning of Tuesday, September 10, 2013 to launch their indefinite country-wide strike that was called aginst the issuance of notices to clearing agents by the revenue authorities in the missing containers case.  Last night a meeting was held between the senior customs officers and customs agents to negotiate the strike call but it failed.  There could potentially be impact on the gate in or gate out activities.
