Changes to Ports of Call (Hodeidah)

Please be guided that in the last 24 hours the situation in Hodeidah has deteriorated. Maersk Line will regretfully stop acceptance of bookings to Hodeidah with immediate effect.

All containers on the water and in transhipment ports destined for Hodeidah are being moved to Salalah.  Maersk Line will be in contact with shippers for potential deliveries to destinations outside Yemen.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will advise in case of any developments.

Yemen – Contingency Plan Q&A

Please see the information below for questions regarding shipments to or from Yemen.

1. Why has Maersk Line taken the decision to stop accepting bookings for Yemen?

On the 26 of March Saudi Arabia in conjunction with other countries launched Operation Decisive Storm in Yemen. Effective 9 April all vessel calls into Yemen were stopped due to the escalating situation, and vessel berthing not being allowed by the Coalition Navy

 

2. What is the contingency plan?

Changes to Ports of Call – Hodeidah, Yemen

Originally, Maersk Line had only ceased accepted to Aden, Yemen; however, now the decision has been taken to reject any bookings to Yemen.

 

Maersk Line has, with immediate effect, decided to stop bookings to Hodeidah, Yemen (YEAHD). 

 

All bookings currently in the system for which containers have not been loaded from origins must be canceled immediately.

 

We will provide updates as they become available.

Bookings to Aden Currently Suspended

Please be guided that we will stop acceptance of bookings to Aden with immediate effect.

All bookings currently in the system for which containers have not been loaded from origins must be cancelled immediately.

 

All containers on the water and in transhipment ports destined for Aden are being moved to Salalah, and we are in contact with consignees for potential deliveries in Hodeidah where port is operating as normal. Temporary Closure of port of Aden, Yemen

As most of you are aware, Saudi Arabia is leading the military initiative from coalition partners in the south of Yemen. The operations started yesterday afternoon and continue.

Kindly be guided that entire city of Aden including the port is closed. All our agents offices (with the exception of Aden) are open for business, and all staff along with families are reported safe.

The vessel calls in port of Aden are cancelled by all carriers, and operations from/ to Hodeidah port is normal currently. Read More...

Yemen Strike

Please be advised that there is an indefinite strike planned at Aden Container Terminal in Yemen for this week.  The workers at the terminal have already taken a “go-slow” action resulting in low productivity.

If you can change your delivery to Hodeidah for cargo on water/transhipment and release containers at Hodeidah, Maersk Line will waive the COD surcharge.
